Have You Heard??: LISA SHAW
again, i would like to give props to T for introducing this artist to me. i believe this was over a year ago, but ever since i listened to her, i've been hooked to the max. i even have my dance teacher hooked on her lol. she's that awesome. but what makes this artist unique is she has a sultry sound, and it reminds me of the legendary Sade ("Smooth Operator", "Jezebel", "The Sweetest Taboo") yet, she the techno, dub, house music... depending on the song. it's an epic combination and i love it. whatever the case may be, you need to hear her.
these two songs is from her sophomore album "Free," but you can't tell me that she doesn't remind you of Sade a tiny little bit...
anyway, you can always find Lisa Shaw on iTunes or Amazon... whatever floats your boat, and you can visit her listed website or follow her twitter. i'm pretty sure you can find her on myspace also.

Have You Heard??: TIFF THE GIFT
Those three points came from a friend of mine who has eclectic tastes like me. I'll just call him T for props. Anyway, this chick can spit. I'm not mad at her at all... Cool, Calm, Chill is the album you definitely need to get, especially if you appreciate rhymes about the genuine things in life. You can get her album from Amazon or iTunes. I like her, she's different. Haven't had much luck finding an official website by her, but I found her iLike page, so maybe that can give you a jump start.
Of course, there's always the wonder and magnificent YouTube. Check one of her videos. This is my personal favorite.
Once I find more information on her, like finding a Twitter page or something of that sort, I'll post it. As of right now, just enjoy the little nibblets I've introduced you to. Hopefully you don't get too addicted.

Have You Heard?? : SOMI
so i've been doing some snooping around on various websites, and then i re-discovered an artist that i found YEARS ago. anyway, this singer is an african-jazz singer, which i absolutely love! when i first found this artist, i heard her song "ingele," which is on her album Red Soil In My Eyes (2007). I have yet to get an album by her (bad CeCe!).However she has four other albums that YOU can purchase on iTunes or Amazon. She's awsome, and i totally recommend her if you like jazz music and if you appreciate musicians who sing in other languages.
here are some Youtube videos of two of my favorite songs by her.
here is her website where you can find out more about her.

Have You Heard??: CONYA DOSS
i absolutely love this artist! i found her this month actually, and ever since... i've been in love! ahh... it's inspiring to find artists that can just soothe your soul! anyway, i found this artist on iTunes, and i found her because i actually purchased another artist's album, and iTunes actually recommended this artist to me. man i'm so happy that it gave me this recommendation because Conya Doss is a great artist! i would love to have her CD, but because i would have to go out-of-state to get an actual CD, i'll be content with having her songs on my computer (plus i don't have her whole CD yet, so what i did was i bought a song from all of her albums on iTunes). anyway, i'm feeling this artist. she has four albums that you can buy on iTunes or if you're a physical person like myself and like to actually buy the album, you can go to her website to see whether or not the stores that sell her albums is in your city!
if you like this artist you can visit her website that i provided or add her on facebook. if you try to find her on facebook, there are multiple pages, but this facebook link is the one that was actually provided on her website.
here are some YouTube videos, which i think you should check out if you like soulful music :)
**this one isn't an official video from her, but i love this song!

Have You Heard??: TRISH
i've known about this artist for quite some time... for about a few years. and i actually discovered this artist from the dancer Luam on YouTube... (if you don't know her i suggest you look her up, she is a BEAST!) and actually i've discovered a couple of artists from the music she dances to. anyway, the first time i heard of Trish, Luam was dancing to "Get On the Floor," and i was thinking... "man this is a banger... (and this dancer is straight fiyah)"
i digress, but the second time i heard her was in another one of Luam's dance videos and her song was "Hi-Yah," and when i heard this song, well to be honest it threw me for a loop, but that's what i like about her. she doesn't necessarily give you what you expect.
because i like to watch Luam's videos on YouTube, i've found more music from Trish and eventually, i just decided to YouTube Trish herself. and i'm not disappointed by the music she dishes out at all. you can expect some bangers that you can "shake ya ass" to and some pop/techno-ish remixes to them... which i like very, very much.
if you like her, you can follow her on twitter by clicking here or visiting her website.
here is two of Trish's videos: "Bump" and "Bump (Shoes Remix). if you want to find more music by her, just go to YouTube.
***update: ok, so there has been news that Trish will be releasing some music on iTunes later this year, i've been looking around on Capitol records website to see if there was any information for any music releases by her, however i haven't found anything. if i find something i'll post it on here or another entry :)

Have You Heard: Introduction
this first blog entry is my introduction to why i decided to start this blog. well to start off, i'm known for having eclectic tastes in music, and also an old soul with a spice of my own personality. but the whole reason why i started this blog was simply because i love music, but i'm picky about what i want to hear because i like thought-provoking music, not just any ol' main stream music. i'm not knockin' main stream or anything, i like all kinds but i have my favorites (and i get tired of hearing the same artists on the radio and television). i love neo-soul, which is my absolute favorite with jazz trailing behind. i also love techno because i have a background in dancing, and techno has those beats that can get me moving at any time. i plan to display all kinds of music, however i can guarantee that most of the music i post will be neo-soul, jazz, and techno. my main purpose for this blog is to uncover the undiscovered artists for those around me, and to you--my readers. you will see main stream artists on here, but not often. if you do see main stream artists on here, they will most likely be under neo-soul. also, i'm a Christain gal and i love the Lord, so don't be surprised if you find some gospel songs/videos on here.
anyway, what i encourage you guys to do is to dig up music of your own and if you like the music--SPREAD THE WORD! i feel too many artists are underrated, or simply uncovered by those who want to really hear what they have to say.
